Category 3 Water Damage

In the mitigation world, we consider Category 3 water highly contaminated and can result in death or serious illness if consumed by humans, as stated by IICRC. The most common water damages we see that are considered Category 3 are toilet overflows and sewer back ups. In these losses, it is our protocol to remove any materials that have been affected by the water. This loss was the result of a toilet overflow. In the before photo, you can see the contaminated water spread from the hallway into a storage room. Our water mitigation professionals removed all of the affected materials as well as saved our customer's belongings from the contaminated water.
